We are pioneering a new era of cell therapy design.

Better therapeutic programs, faster.

We collaborate with drug developers of all sizes to build the next generation of cell therapies. We both enable novel cell function and indication areas, as well accelerate existing therapeutic programs. We’re eager to work with partners that share our vision of engineering our way towards more effective therapies.

Demonstrated success with industry-leading partners.

Our approach has led to successful projects and partnerships, such as the development of CARs to drive metabolically sustainable activation of NK cells and the optimization of CAR expression for low target antigen density. We've also partnered with a top big pharma to discover responsive DNA elements that can safely drive payload gene expression in CAR-T.

Modular Design™ platform enables design of novel switch receptors

Switch receptors are a type of chimeric receptor that can be activated or deactivated by a small molecule "switch" ligand. Modulus has developed a platform for the discovery of novel switch receptors, which enables the precise control of CAR-T and CAR-NK cell activity in response to a switch ligand. This technology has the potential to improve the safety and efficacy of cell therapies by allowing for more precise control over their activation and targeting.

Fine-tuning expression with responsive DNA elements

Responsive DNA elements allow for precise control of gene expression within cells, enabling Modulus to engineer specific gene expression programs. Modulus has developed a platform for discovery of custom activation-responsive DNA elements in CAR-T and CAR-NK Modules. Through these responsive DNA elements, Modulus can finely tune gene expression of payloads such as cytokines and CARs for more effective and targeted cell therapies.

Rapid prototyping discovers discovers novel CARs for CAR-NK

Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs) are a type of engineered protein receptor that are expressed on the surface of immune cells, particularly engineered T-cells and Natural Killer (NK) cells. CARs are designed to recognize specific antigens present on tumor cells and activate effector cells to target and destroy those cells. Modulus has developed a platform for discovery of custom CARs to enhance the persistence and cytotoxicity of T and NK cells. Our CAR-T and CAR-NK components are designed to enhance proliferation and cytotoxicity providing a more effective and sustained response against cancer.

Endodomain engineering enhances CAR-NK signalling

Endodomain engineering refers to the process of modifying the intracellular signaling domain of chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) to enhance their potency and functional lifetime in recognizing and killing cancer cells. Modulus utilizes endodomain engineering to optimize the activity of its CAR NK cell therapy products. By fine-tuning the signaling pathways activated by CARs, Modulus is able to enhance the potency and breadth of functions encoded in cell therapies.
